My Life Goal

My ultimate goal in life is to glorify God by catalyzing a movement that drives transformational development to accelerate holistic transformation leading to sustainable development in Myanmar and Asia.

My Background

I was born in 1984 in a remote village in Falam Township, Chin State, northwestern Myanmar to a self-employed businessman father and a headmistress mother. I have seven siblings, three brothers and four sisters, and Iโ€™m the second eldest son. I studied high school in Chin State. And I learned to grow a wide variety of crops and diversified vegetable farms in Chin State.

How I Became a Born-Again Believer

Growing up in a Christian family, I was told Bible stories, went to Sunday school, and attended local churches, but I did not have a personal relationship with God. At age 14, I had the opportunity to hear and understand the true gospel of salvation and responded to Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord in the wholehearted personal commitment of repentance and faith.

I have been saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ to do good works for the glory of God. And I found the meaning and purpose of my life in Jesus Christ. My desire is to faithfully serve God and fulfill His purpose for my life.

Godโ€™s Call to Ministry

Following my conversion in 1998, I began to serve as a young Sunday school teacher in a local church in a remote village in Chin State. Two years later, in 2000, I decided to pursue a theological education in Yangon to prepare myself for the ministry when I was 16.

It was in 1998 that I began to have a heart to serve in ministry. In 2002, during my theological studies, I discovered Godโ€™s purpose for my life. In 2007, I discerned my God-given purpose for Agape Vision to glorify God by catalyzing transformational development through living the Great Commandment and fulfilling the Great Commission in our generation. In 2009, I began to pursue God’s calling on my life.

My life was not perfect. There was a time when I turned away from God. I dropped out of theological seminary in my MDiv second year later in 2006. In March 2007, I began my career in recruitment and started Agape recruitment and employment service from a humble beginning. It was operated for 2 years and closed in June 2009, since God has led me in a divine direction to fulfill His purpose for my life. During that time, I was stubborn, rebellious, and resistant to God’s call, and I lived a miserable life. But God is always faithful, gracious, and merciful, and His love never fails me.

With a broken heart and contrite spirit and true repentance, having a changed heart and mind, and living a transformed life, I rededicated my life to God on June 28, 2009, to respond to His call and fulfill His purpose for my life. And God brought forth Agape Vision into existence “for such a time as this“.

The Lord gave me a burden to provide access to the gospel to the unreached people groups in Myanmar and Asia.

My God-given Agape Vision

In early 2007, God implanted in me the passion for LOVE NEVER FAILSโ„ข, a God-given purpose for Agape Vision to glorify God by catalyzing a movement that drives transformational development to accelerate the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

In June 2009, I founded Agape Vision, a movement of people compelled by Godโ€™s love and driven by Godโ€™s purpose to live the Great Commandment and fulfill the Great Commission in our everyday lives through living a life of obedience, faithfulness, and fruitfulness.

I envisioned a global movement of people living the Great Commandment and fulfilling the Great Commission in their everyday lives. Our mission is to infuse God’s truth into people to live with faith, hope, and love and empower them to multiply healthy disciples, churches, and leaders everywhere.

Christ’s love compelled me to do the “greater works” He has called me to do.

My Family

Psalm 37:4 says, โ€œTake delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.โ€

As I began pursuing God’s calling into ministry, I needed someone who would work with me as a partner in ministry. Therefore, I asked God for a wife, and He gave me the love of my life. In July 2009, I married Alice, and God blessed us with two fabulous sons, Joshua Mang and Joseph Mang, and a beautiful daughter, Janice Mang.

My wife Alice and I prayerfully prepared to do greater works God called us to do. We started with 40 days of prayer and half-day fasting to truly rely on God by trusting He will fulfill His purpose and committing ourselves to live a life of obedience, faithfulness, and fruitfulness. Alice and I are grateful for the privilege of being called into full-time ministry.

I am convinced that God established the Agape Family, using our trials and tribulations to mold and shape us for His purpose and make us into what He intended for our lives, marriage, family, and ministry. My family is truly a gift from God. I am always grateful for my family because family relationships help prepare us for our relationships with the people we serve.

Becoming an Ordained Minister

An ordained minister is a leader called by God and qualified by God to serve the Church and glorify God. – Peter T. Mang

In 2009, the year Agape started, my God’s call to the ministry was first confirmed by my granduncle, Rev. Dr. Robert Thawng Hlai, the late founding minister and Senior Pastor of Chin Baptist Church of Yangon, through the laying on of hands to set me apart for God’s purpose.

In February 2018, after 9 years of full-time ministry, I was officially ordained to the ministry with ecclesiastical authority to perform ministerial functions and official recognition of my Godโ€™s call to ministry and God’s choice of leadership through the laying on of hands by Senior Leaders from Myanmar Gospel Baptist Convention, Gospel Baptist Churches of USA Convention, and the Faculty of Gospel Baptist Bible Seminary (Ordination Council), a biblically recognized group of church leaders who have the authority to ordain men to the ministry.
